Preparation for C1000–086: IBM Cloud Pak for Data V3.x Administrator certification

Task-1: Know the objective of the examination

• Go to IBM Professional Certification Program
• Take a look at different topics of the examination

Task-2: Know the scope of the examination

Once I know the topics, I also need to know the scope for each topic.

• Under the “Exam Preparation” Tab, you will find the Study Guide and Sample Question

• Study Guide is the syllabus for the exam. Each question in the exam will be only from the scope and topics enlisted in the Study Guide
• Sample Test will exam taker an idea about the question

Task-3: Know the type of questions

In the exam, there are mainly the following types of question

• Multiple Choice (Both Single or multiple selections)
• Ordering steps
• Show in the image.

Task-4: Know the Learning Path recommended by IBM Training

• Create an IBM Id if you already do not have any. If you have an IBM id, login to IBM

• Go to IBM Learning Path for Administrator: IBM Cloud Pak for Data. This Learning path will give a complete overview of the Learning Journey. A number of free and paid assets are available in the IBM training centre.

• Use the free asset in IBM Training for a basic understanding and preparation.

• Also, there are a number of paid class those can help the exam taker for the certifications.

Task-5: Know some common commands for RedHat OpenShift

There can be a number of questions where the exam taker will be asked to select the correct command from a set of commands. For example,

Which of the following command will return all events of a cluster?
A. oc list events
B oc get events
C. oc events
D. cpdr events

In order to ace those question, the exam taker needs to know the command for the following objectives

• Examine log for pods
• Examine memory and CPU usage as well capacity for node and pod
• Examine events for cluster, node, pod
• Execute command inside the pod
• Schedule and Unschedule Node

OpenShift Interactive Learning Portal can help to practice the commands. Also here you can find an oc command cheat sheet.

Task-6: Know ICP4D command-line tools and command

• Go to IBM GitHub repo for ICP4D command-line interface (cpd-cli)
• Visit the scripts for public cloud deployment in GitHub .

Task-7: Follow the study guide

Study Guide has references for each of the task as shown in the following figure. Go to the reference location and go through the content.

For troubleshoot

• Go through the steps for each of the scenario described in IBM Cloud Pak for Data Hub
• Pay attention to commands and tools

Some Tips

• In the IBM Cloud Pak for Data Product Hub documentation if you come across any table or “important” block, pay extra attention to them.

Task-8: Hands-on Experience

• Trail Account: There is a 60-day trial available for IBM Cloud Pak for Data.
• Use IBM Watson Studio: Some of the Menu items are the same in ICP4D and IBM Watson Studio. So provision IWS will also enable the user to perform some of the stuff.
• Watch Video: Take a look at the youtube playlist for some hands-on experience with ICP4D.
• Run a Diagnostic job at IBM Watson Studio. Download the result folder and get familiar with the log.

Task-9: Take the sample exam

• Down the sample test and evaluate the performance

Task-10: Take the assessment exam

• Register for “A1000–086 Assessment: IBM Cloud Pak for Data V3.x Administrator” on Pearson Vue
• During examination take a screenshot of each question with your selected answer and also take a screenshot of the final result. This will help you to prepare better for the real exam.

• Register for the exam with Pearson Vue
